First, let’s discuss how Remarkety is able to predict which products to recommend.Since Remarkety is connected directly to your shop’s admin and constantly syncing order data, we know the products customers are buying most, which categories are most popular, which products are bought with other products and so on.
From there, our engine will analyze all this data, in real-time mind you, to determine which products to place in product recommendation that are personalized based on the customer.
This means we are able to surface those insights into product recommendations that you can customize a number of ways. More on that in a bit.

Customers who bought this also bought…
This is the Amazon.com-style of product recommendations – “Customers who bought this, also bought…” Remarkety looks for items your customers have bought in the past to recommend items typically bought by customers who have made similar purchases, hence “Customers also bought…”
This recommendation type is particularly effective with abandoned cart emails and order followups as a way to up-sell customers. In an abandoned cart email, for example, Remarkety will look at the items abandoned in a cart and recommend the products customers have bought with those items.
So how can we do this? Well, Remarkety is constantly syncing your store’s data to find and predict the products your customers are most likely to purchase based on order history

Items usually bought together with…
This recommendation type recommends items that are usually bought together in the same order. These recommendations are typically complimentary items. Thus, this recommendation type looks for products bought together in a single order. This is different than “Customers who bought this also bought…” which looks for the products that don’t necessarily have to be purchased in the same order.
Pro Tip: Use this product recommendation type in abandoned cart emails to up-sell customers and increase average order value.
Best sellers
The recommended products in emails will be best sellers from your store. Since Remarkety is connected to your shop’s admin, we are able to see the best-selling products based on actual order history.
Pro Tip: Use this product recommendation type in emails targeting prospects and leads that show off your best selling products.
Advanced: How To Customize
By default, Remarkety will look for best-sellers from the past 90 days. This can be customized, however. To customize, go to the ‘Advanced Configuration’ dropdown right beneath the six types of product recommendations, you can choose to widen or narrow the time frame.
Best sellers from a customer’s favorite categories
Recommend best selling products from the same category as a customer’s last order. Instead of recommending best-selling products from your entire store, you can recommend best-selling products from the categories of your customer’s most recent order. This recommendation type can be used to help your customers discover products they may have missed while shopping with you in the past.
If a customer hasn’t shopped with you in a few months, leverage this recommendation type to win them back in inactive customer emails. You will be introducing best-sellers from their favorite category and increase the chance they come back and place a purchase with you.
Pro Tip: Use this product recommendation type in reward emails or inactive customer winbacks to help customers discover best-sellers that are relevant to them based on their order history.
Choose randomly from a fixed list
This type of recommendation makes product recommendations based on the products you select. You can choose as many or as few products as you’d like.
Pro Tip: Use this product recommendation type when you want to drive orders on specific products you want to sell fast.
Advanced: How To Customize
In the ‘Advanced Configuration’ dropdown right beneath the six types of product recommendations, you’ll be able to define the exact products you want to recommend. Either start typing the name of your products or simply search scroll through the dropdown menu.
Latest products from the website
The “Latest products” recommendation-type will recommend newest arrivals to customers. Remarkety will look for the newest products you’ve uploaded into your store and then randomly select the products to place in the recommendations.
Pro Tip: Use this product recommendation type in order followup emails or inactive customer followups so existing customers can see your latest products.
Advanced: How To Customize
You can define how many of the newest products Remarkety should randomly select in your account settings.
- Go to your account settings by clicking the gear icon in the top right of the dashboard
- Select the product recommendations tab
- Under ‘Newest products – list size” enter the number of newest products you want Remarkety to pick from in recommendations (See below)
- Click the ‘Save settings’ button
Advanced Types of Customizations
If you want to make more specific types of product recommendations or customize further, you have some options.

– Ignore Products from Specific Categories
– Editing the Style of Product Recommendations
Recommend Products from Specific Categories
You can recommend best selling products from a specific category. This change will only affect the respective campaign with these settings.
To define specific categories, go to the ‘Advanced Configuration’ dropdown right beneath the six types of product recommendations. Then choose specific categories by typing their name or scrolling through the list. You can choose as many or as few categories as you’d like.
Ignore Products from Specific Categories
If there are specific categories you don’t want Remarkety to recommend, you can! This change, however, will affect all of your email campaigns.
If you want Remarkety to ignore specific categories in product recommendations, you’ll need to adjust in your account settings.
- Go to your account settings by clicking the gear icon in the top right of the dashboard
- Select the product recommendations tab
- In the top right column, begin typing the categories you’d like to ignore or select from the drop down menu
- Click the ‘Save settings’ button
Editing the Style of Product Recommendations
Please note that editing the style of product recommendations should only be done when using the old template editor or editing and/or designing emails in HTML.
The amount of products to recommend, the width of images and title above product recommendations can be edited.
- Count: Choose how many products to recommend
- Width: Choose how wide the product images should be (10o pixels is default)
- Title: Change the title above your product recommendaitons
