Email marketing is still the most popular and potent channel you can use for your e-commerce business. It’s like a powerful river that flows all the profits into your abundant ocean. But what about the tributaries? There must be a bunch of different little streams that contribute to creating this powerful river of goodness.

A singular marketing stream will only grow your business if it meets other streams and flows into a river and then on to the ocean. Using cross marketing channels will empower your marketing efforts and bring your business to another level.

Cross Marketing Channels for eCommerce

At Remarkety we are strong advocates of email marketing. Not a real surprise is it? But we are not blinded to the fact that no marketing strategy can be complete with the use of just one marketing stream. Multiple marketing streams will enable you to attract and engage with various audience types.

So what cross marketing strategies should you be incorporating into your overall eCommerce marketing plan?

Social

You guessed it. Of course, social media is on the top of our list!

Social marketing is great for building your online reputation, interacting one-on-one with your customers, and networking with leads. Use social media for your leads generation and make them subscribe to your emails in order to convert them to customers down the road.

One of the best ways to do that is to create ads with targeted content that bring the visitor to a landing page. Adding a clear call-to-action will incite clicks. Tip: Make the deal clear so your audience will know what to except when they click.

Chatbots

This new awesome marketing channel is especially useful when you want to build an email list quickly. You can use a tool like ManyChat to add every person that chats with you to a special broadcast list. That way, you can send your email content through Facebook Messenger.

If you use it together with email it becomes even more potent. Create a popup with two parts. On the first screen of the popup add the email subscription button. Once they subscribe offer them to chat with you on Messenger. That way they subscribe to both.

Every time you send out your broadcast they get a personalized looking Facebook message that leads them back to your site. Chatbots are like the Venus flytrap of the marketing world.

Mobile

Mobile is dominating the market more and more. If your site is not optimized for mobile visitors then you will lose out a TON of business in 2018. It’s not just about making sure that your site is responsive, it’s also about the format of your content.

To ensure that your emails are mobile-ready you may need to experiment with your content. We strongly suggest that you simplify your sentences. Shorter sentences are more concise and are easier to read on a smaller screen. Another tip you should employ is to insert fewer links in your email. Clicking on a smaller screen is frustrating enough for most, but having loads of links close together frequently leaves people clicking the wrong link by accident. Finally, only include ONE call-to-action button.

The clearer your email on mobile, the more conversions you will see.

Affiliate and referral programs

If your product is great and your marketing is rocking then chances are you have made some happy customers over the years. They are probably walking around spreading the good word about your business.

How do you optimize the good word?

Offer a way to make money from it! Also known as a referral program.

Create a gamified referral program – where your customers get points for referring their friends. Then make a competition where the top referrers win a paid trip somewhere, to hang with you or to drink beers on an exotic beach. Location doesn’t matter, just milk that word of mouth.

Referral programs are great opportunities to send out some emails. Email the customer with updates on their points earned, on their friends that joined, and on how the competition is going and who’s on top.
